Overview
I am a Ph.D. student, Sloan Fellow, and Dean’s Scholar studying biology education alongside Michelle K. Smith Ph.D. in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. My research focuses on assessing critical thinking, equity, inclusion, and social dynamics in biology laboratory and field courses. I am primarily interested in how social interactions amongst students in lab and field courses facilitate social integration within their major and the natural sciences, overall. Through characterizing social integration, I hope that student interactions can be restructured in a way that improves the cognitive and affective outcomes of undergraduates in lab and field courses.
